Note 2020.05.15

With Charlie, we got together and made the decision to put this album online when we had originally planned to release it in digipack cd very soon, the process was launched but we put the order on hold for the moment due to the global pandemic situation and our inability to project, like all, in organizing new tours to promote and sell our copies. However we are very proud of this recording and very happy to present it in its digital form !
We do NOT abandon the idea of physical release and will set aside the profits of digital sales for this purpose. thx

Charlie Collins and Anton Mobin met for the first time in Sheffield during March 2016, at the "Hugh Davies Project Residency" in Access Space. Subsequently, Anton invited Charlie for an improvised duo meeting at Access Space as part of the “Hugh Davies Project Exhibition”, taking place on May 13 2016. This turned out to be a revelation for both musicians, but unfortunately the recordings were a technical disaster – maybe fate was tempted too much by Friday the thirteenth! To ward off the spell, Charlie and Anton have decided to meet again in August 2017, to replay in concert at Access Space and to record in the studio...

Charlie Collins is a creative percussionist, free polyrhythmic drummer, and sound artist, based in Sheffield, UK. His work continues to explore the boundaries between pure sound and rhythm, frequently incorporating metal percussion and free improvisation. In the 1970s he was involved in the nascent “Industrial” scene, being an early member of ClockDVA, and founder of The Box, recording for cult labels Industrial, Fetish and
Doublevision.
He has received a number of awards for live performance and composition, worked in dance and theatre, taught improvisation at Nottingham Trent University, and toured the live soundtrack to Teinosuke Kinugasa’s silent 1920s masterpiece “A Page Of Madness”. More recently he has been a member of altoist Sonny Simmons Quartet, performed and recorded with komungo player Eun-Jung Kim, worked with Japanese experimentalist Ryoko Akama, has duos with New York trumpet legend Ted Daniel and pianist Yoko Miura, and
collaborates with multi-media artist Bongsu Park.
He is one of a handful of musicians to have played both Derek Bailey’s Company Week and Top Of The Pops.

Anton Mobin is musician, improvisor, experimental instrument-builder and develops his own electro-acoustic instruments since 2008 which « Prepared Chamber » is the generic name.
The instrument was born in the evolution of my instrumental practice in a constant need to redefine my installation by moving from a table-object to an instrument with definite forms. The « prepared chamber » takes shape in a large wooden box with a resonance table in which numerous daily objects, springs and strings are organized and amplified by three home-made magnetic pickups and two piezzo-electric contact microphones.
The third version of the « Prepared Chamber » have been rewarded in 2016 at Hugh Davies Project Residency and presents significant changes and new technical characteristics in terms of ergonomic and construction method to make it evolve to more details and refinement with a much better sound quality.
Anton Mobin has federated around his practice the pioneers of improvised music (Adam Bohman, Charlie Collins, Derek Saw or Neil Metcalfe) as young and dynamic musicians of the scene ‘New and Improvised Music’ in London (Benedict Taylor, Colin Webster, Will Connor, Tom Jackson, Daniel Thompson, David Birchall). Anton also occasionally joins the ‘London Improvisers Orchestra’ on stage (including key artists such as Steve Beresford, Phil Minton, Terry Day, Adam Bohman, Neil Metcalfe, Adrian Northover...)
